Football-Springfever

As mentioned in the last post, I am generally not a huge football fan. But when Champions League is played in a tent, on the grounds of the Oktoberfest, with beer and great conversation flowing, it's quite bearable.

This was the case last night, as Julia's brother Benni, who I will from hereon in refer to as Benni, because that is his name and you are most likely to read more about him in future, had reserved a table, (aka "beer bench") for us, in the Hippodrom tent.

Around Oktoberfest time, this is the tent known for accommodating all the "celebrities", and it's near impossible to get a table, but at present it is the 'Frühlingsfest' (Spring-festival), so it was mostly "normal" people. 'Tracht', the traditional Bavarian get-up of Lederhose and Dirndl is still expected however, despite it not being officially Oktoberfest. We were happy to oblige.

All except Kathi, who had come from the BMW Open, where apparently a 'Dirndl' is not appropriate attire...
We already got to the tent at 5pm, since we actually had to sit at our table in order for it to stay reserved. Kick-off wasn't until 8:45pm, so we had to find ways to pass the time...

By drinking...
Singing...

And more singing, in particular of the 'FC Bayern anthem', which for some reason (probably that I am too technologically retarded) am unable to upload...I'll work on it, it's a goody!

And dancing!
In case you were curious about the low angle of these photos, the above activities were (of course) carried out whilst standing the benches...Not quite "chair/table-dancing" a la Classy Birds, but just as much fun.

Another highlight of the 'Frühlingsfest', is that it offers a lot of the rides that can normally be found on the Oktoberfest. My favourite of these is 'Wilde Maus' (yes that is wild mouse!). It looks kind of harmless, like most rides, but it packs a punch! For me anyway...the seven year-olds behind us were more impressed by my screaming than the actual ride...

You basically scoot around in a a wee wagon (not very securely fastened), and feel like you are going to get flung out every sharp corner it whips around, as well as get that brilliant feeling of your stomach being left behind...

Apart from that, not a lot more to report, disappointingly, not so many babes at this match compared to the last...Although one stuck out:

May I introduce...Leo the Lion. He was quite the gentlelion.
Off to one of my other favourite places in the world...IKEA! To shop for some goodies that will hopefully transform this room of mine (yes you read correctly, I have found one!), into a temporary home.

More about that tomorrow!

Yours truly,
Fräulein SoulFood x
