Birthday weekend -Part II

Moving on to my "real" birthday celebrations, we rose and shone around 7:30am, after only four and a half hours of sleep...Thankfully, Mama SoulFood had prepared the most delicious breakkie, starting with fresh-pressed juice followed by her signature breakfast omelette (the tastiest and fluffiest omelette you will ever have!). Both made the "shining" part a lot easier. More presents were unwrapped, which to my delight included my coveted wishbone necklace, and to my slight dismay, a Kindle. Don't get me wrong, I think e-readers have a place (i.e. for traveling), however, as the Fräulein is in the business of publishing, Mama and Papa were not exactly supporting my industry with this gift...But that is another discussion.

Awoke to these beauties!
After breakfast we swiftly departed back to Auckland town, from where we would catch the ferry to Waiheke.

Byebye Auckland...
Once aboard, the celebration really began as Mama "went to use the ladies'", and returned with bubbles! Sneaky...I'm not gonna lie, it wasn't champagne, but it was a good start.

Cheers!
Forty-five minutes later we arrived on the shores of paradise.

Yachts in Matiatia Bay, Waiheke.
Where we embarked on another round of the headland walk, although this time sans-sculptures. Just natural beauty.

I could never get sick of this view.
We were casually meandering along, enjoying the vistas when I noticed...
...that Mama SoulFood was becoming Mama SoleFoot!
And even sooner, Mama NoSole! Poor Mama...Ah well she provided great entertainment! :)
Due to our ridiculous amount of laughter, at Mama's squeaky, flappy sole...(gosh I'm cracking up just reminiscing about it! Simple minds...) we were a bit delayed in our arrival at...

...The Oyster Inn! Yes, this is what you have been waiting for.

Mama again became the centre of attention...

Basically you just need to read the initial review of The Oyster Inn to know what it was like. Perfect, again. We mixed up our initial menu selection in the slightest, sticking with the original winning Tarakihi sliders as our entree, along with the Very green salad, which was also very interesting.

Very green salad $15 and Tarakihi sliders $18 (normally served as two but we were kindly allowed to order 1 1/2 portions).
Instead of the "best lemonade in NZ", we quenched our thirst with a jug of the Garden Sangria this time, which we also didn't regret. As our main we had two portions of the Octopus salad, divine as last time. And finished (again,) with the Cherry fool, heavenly.

Cherry fool (has now been changed to Gooseberry fool...) $12, with a lovely birthday touch!
Served by my new BFF/slightly wacky 'uncle'? I even got a complimentary kiss...
Since we hadn't had any birthday cake, we added to our dessert selection with the Chocolate paradise. Ummm...it managed to trump the Cherry fool. Amazing!

Chocolate paradise, Anzac crumbs and PX prunes $14
Positively stuffed, but happy, we made our merry way back to reality...

Not before Theresa and I were once again overcome by the giggles at the sight of these two helmet-clad ferry passenger...why???

Thanks mostly to Mama SoulFood, it was indeed a very happy birthday.

Hope you enjoyed!

Yours truly,

Fräulein SoulFood x
