Not so inspiring Innsbruck

After our day in nature, we needed a bit of culture. So we headed to nearby Innsbruck, where there wasn't actually all that much too see, so we basically ate our way around the city. It's what we SoulFoods do best after all…

We straight for lunch at one of the art galleries/museums. These were the highlight dishes:

I wish I could remember the exact name of the gallery/museum, but Mama found it so I can only give you an impression of what the place looks like from this picture.

After a brief wander through the oldtown…

…and a visit to the "golden roof"…

…we swiftly moved onto coffee and cake at Cafe 'Munding' - Tirol's oldest cafe and patisserie - established by Johann Nepomuk Munding in 1803.

Mr. Munding was also the inventor of the world's first mechanical dough-kneading machine. Of course this was a crucial invention in order to produce cakes like these…

This was the ultimate one - "Mozart" Torte - with layers of marzipan throughout!

I take my hat off to you Mr. Munding, you made the otherwise not so inspiring visit to Innsbruck worthwhile!

We soon left the dreary grey city and were glad to return home to greener pastures!

Yours truly,
Fräulein SoulFood x
