Midweek adventures - böhmler concept store reopening

And so another week has flown by, and there are merely three days left until Christmas. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?!!! No time to ponder really, best just launch straight into one of my latest outings, the böhmler concept store reopening.

I was invited along by Linds, who recently began her interior design internship here in Munich (a round of applause please!), and had in turn been asked to attend the reopening on behalf of the company.

Of course Linds knew that the Fräulein would never turn down an invitation to check out great design as well as taste her way through the six-course flying dinner, and a seemingly unlimited supply of bubbles. No matter how much I told her I needed "a quiet, Yoga-filled night"...so off we were!

We met a couple of Linds' colleagues there who entertained us throughout the evening.

Or perhaps I was entertaining them?!
There we go! :)

böhmler is a Munich institution, founded in 1875 and now lead by the fourth generation of böhmlers. Two floors featuring the world's most prestigious design brands!

My favourite piece:

A classic, the 'Wishbone Chair'. The first of the Danish designer Hans J. Wegner's chair for Carl Hansen & Son, debuting in 1949. Apart from being obsessed with wishbones in general (hence the wishbone necklace for my 21st birthday), I dream of a table with an eclectic collection of chairs scattered around it, including a couple of 'Wishbone Chairs'.

Unfortunately we had arrived a tad more than fashionably late, and had missed the first three courses. The following two were meaty...from very wishy-washy memory something with quail, and another with veal. So unfortunately I had to satisfy myself with dessert; 'Wheatbeer Tiramisu' and bubbles. Ah, could've been worse!

After having washed that down, we went exploring. I never realised how perfect concept stores were for photoshoots! A new set around every corner!

I loved these rolls of carpet. Almost like an artwork in themselves, they reminded me of when I was little and my grandad still had his flooring business and I would run across the rolls of carpet from one end of his warehouse to the other, pretending to be Mogli running through the jungle. Of course I would stumble every so often, falling into the cracks between the then giant rolls, which was where the crocodiles lurked, naturally. Yes, I've always had a vivid imagination...

I made another new friend.

All the socialising, bubbles, and trying to take in every last detail had me pretty exhausted pretty soon. And I felt quite at home on this couch. But we missioned on, and discovered this sitting in the window...

How delicious...Now it's not often that you get a store like this pretty much to yourself to roam in. So we had to test the bed.

Test result: Pass with flying colours!
I would've been more than happy to spend the night there, although that may have been awkward in the morning with shoppers passing by the window...Instead we decided that since we were already out on the town, we should stop by the launch of InStyle Men

So we grabbed our goodybags and said "see ya soon böhmler!"...

Although I was impressed with the new InStyle Men, (more so than the regular one!), the party wasn't so much our style. Too many old creeps versus young things clad in next to nothing...So we ditched, and took our routine "escalator shot" before heading home for a couple of hours of sleep before work.

Thanks Linds for another midweek adventure!

I am officially on "holiday" for a couple of weeks now! It won't be much of a holiday, with flat-hunting/finding (hopefully!) and moving, family visits, New Years plans and ski trips to organise, but it will be good to get a break from my "other" work. What I am most excited about is finally having time to catch up and nurture this wee bloglet again. I've missed it sorely.

Happy weekend to you!

Yours truly,
Fräulein SoulFood x
