Pre-Oktoberfest September "use up"
Hello there! I plan to have a lot to report on over the next couple of weeks with Lindsay back in town (!!), Oktoberfest and a wedding coming up. Hence I figured my monthly "use up" (my version of a round up), should be happening sooner, rather than later, before I forget all the relevant stories...
Week before last the weather had perked up a little again, and although I was depressed about having to "work" (enter contacts into Outlook), I at least tried to soak up every ray of sunshine I could possibly get in contact with, by spending my lunchtimes by our rooftop gondola!
That was nice, but I was still mourning the lack of "Biergarten" nights I had had over Summer. So when my friend Lisa mentioned she was going, I couldn't help but invite myself (sorry Lisa!...) but we had a rather hilarious night so I think my being there was accepted.
Lisa wasn't falling asleep I promise! :) |
I think this picture says it all... |
There were five of us altogether, including two Spaniards who we discussed the difficulties of understanding the Bavarian dialect with. Rather "un-Spanishly" they vamosed a casa before us...I fear the difference between Bussi (Bavarian for 'kiss') and their pronunciation -Phussi (no explanation needed...) got too much for them.
But the fun continued as Lisa, Nico and I weighed up the aesthetic pros and cons of the traditional Bavarian Dirndl and Lederhosen, when a strapping chap sporting a very fine example of a Lederhose wandered on by...Unfortunately he wandered too quickly, so Lisa couldn't quite capture him, but in this case I think my face says it all!
I tried too, alas, this is as good as I managed...
But never fear, I plan to find some more fine examples at Oktoberfest to show you next week! ;)
Of course there was some more chilling with the family, which of course included some homebaked treats.
My favourite, my aunty's 'Nut Crescents'. |
As well as pizza from down the road (the best pizza I've tasted in Germany to date)...
Some of my homecooked comfort food; Gnocchi with roast aubergine, tomatoes, basil and parmesan.
After a couple of "calm" nights, the socialising continued, as I finally managed to hit town with my old friend Alex and her flatmate Vevo! (Un-)fortunately no photos exist since the night ended up getting away on us a little...
But not as quickly as I got whisked between clubs in a Porsche Carrera!
Now if that wasn't a super smooth segue! :) Funnily enough Lisa and I had passed a parked Porsche Carrera the previous night and I had stopped her in her tracks and told her how that was my car, and oh how I would love a drive in one!...
So how did I end up in this marvelous machine the following night? We bumped into a couple of Austrians that wanted to join our party of three. Since the other two girls had biked to the first club we went to, and there was only room for one more in the Carrera, it seemed I was once again the lucky one...
Proof. |
And once again, the sun was rising as I made my way home at 7am, exhausted but happy.
I can't wait for the next two weeks worth of adventures with my trusty sidekick Lindsay!
Yours truly,
